LEA Architects served as the lead design Architect for the City of Phoenix Lake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant Visitor’s Center & Operations Building. The design competition entry was selected by the City of Phoenix as the first place submittal. LEA designed numerous buildings for this large $280 MillionDesign-Build-Operate project including the Visitors center which metaphorically represents a “ship in the desert” with large fabric shade structures protecting the observation platform and 6 educational reflecting pools that tell a story of the various stages of the water treatment process.
