avondale public safety facility

17,228 s.f.

The Avondale Public Safety Facility includes Police, Fire, and an EOC, designed to blend into the surrounding development of Crystal Gardens on a triangular site at 107th Avenue Re- Alignment. The two-story, split use 17,230 s.f. facility takes full advantage of the one-acre site and fits into the surroundings of this unique facility. The difficult site and a responsive building design to the site enabled the public to interact with the unusual configuration. The site and the building can be seen from a number of vantage points, making it impossible to consider that the building has a “back-side”. A considerable amount of security and functional relationship issues had to be evaluated in order to make the design successful and comfortable.

Features included: three drive-through bays, twelve semiprivate dorms and captains quarters, living area, outdoor patio with gas barbecue, police sub-station with Police holding cells and administration offices, 1300 s.f. public meeting room, and EOC, dining area, and conference room. Project is well sited to take advantage of the Avondale water reclamation area.

estrella mountain ranch public safety facility

18,500 s.f.

LEA has designed and constructed this 18,500 s.f. joint use facility in Estrella Mountain Ranch. The design was part of the Masterplan and provided a design that blends into its scenic desert surroundings. The use of materials and the design was an important aspect of this joint use facility. The station is a linear design with a center axis, serving as the entry lobby and the public Meeting rooms, then the plan is divided for each functional use. The Fire Station is to the East and the Police Substation is to the West. The use of natural light and minimal circulation identifies it as a comfortable and functional design. The site, building design and use of materials were utilized in achieving this appearance. A considerable amount of security and relationship issues had to be evaluated in order to make the design successful and comfortable for the Fire Department, Police Department and the Community. Features included: three drive-through bays, police substation with holding cells and offices, prisoner processing, ten private dorms and captains quarters, living area, outdoor patio with gas barbecue, weight and exercise room, break and locker room, public meeting room/training room, dining area and kitchen, conference room, sally port & police administration offices and evidence storage.
